As we enter the 2nd quarter we hope you enjoy this new format of the rundown.

Somebody is Watching you...

During the month of October this portrait of Sister Billie Bess has been making its way around campus. Sister Billie Bess was a Sister of St. Joseph and a beloved teacher at St. Rose High School in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Over the past few weeks her portrait visited classrooms and offices until she was noticed. Then, that teacher or staff member was responsible for paying a ransom to the Annual Fund in order to get her to move to the next location. Otherwise, she continue to stare you down. Thank you to all of the faculty and students who have participated so far and remember to keep an eye out for Sister because she has her eye out for you!

St. Rose teacher and Senior Trip Moderator, Mrs. Carlotz spent the last three days waking up at 3am. She is normally very excited to hear the voice of Mickey and friends for the early morning wake up call, but this time was a lot different. Instead of suiting up for a day of magic, Mrs. Carlotz and his sister suited up for Disney's Half Marathon weekend.

The 2022 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend explored the music, stories and culinary delights found around World Showcase during the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival.

The first day was a 5k, the second was a 10k, and the third day was the half marathon, something Mrs. Carlotz has been training for all summer.

We are proud of Mrs. Carlotz and her sister on setting a goal, working towards it, and making it happen! Make sure you congratulate her when you see her (sitting down)!

Senior Halloween Breakfast

The Senior's celebrated Halloween with their traditional breakfast sponsored by the Student Council. It's tradition that seniors get to dress up for Halloween and this year was no different. Immediately following homeroom the seniors gathered for a bagel breakfast in the cafe and then posed for pictures. Take a look at the slideshow in the video above.

Senior Halloween Costume Contest

Throughout the day, as the seniors moved throughout campus, the teachers were watching closely and looking at all of the creative costumes adorned by the Class of 2023. Then, the faculty were able to cast their vote for their favorite costume in the categories of: most original, best group, scariest, and best overall. The winners are listed above.

Puffs

The curtain closed last night on St. Rose's 2022 Fall Drama, "Puffs." Puffs is the story of Wayne Hopkins: a regular boy who finds out he’s a wizard and goes to school in England where he makes two best friends and has adventures. This perhaps sounds familiar. But, Wayne is sorted as a Puff, he and the other Puffs simply want to learn how to be wizards and avoid attacks by evil wizards.

It was a packed house for closing night and the entire cast and crew under the direction of Mr. Henderson should be very proud of themselves. View the recap video and then listen to a few cast members chat about their experiences on the latest edition of the Power of Potential podcast.

Athletic Club

Join us for our next meeting, Wednesday, November 9th at 7:00pm in the St. Rose Library

Thank you to everyone who supported the Athletic Club's 32nd Annual Golf Classic & Gift Auction.

We are grateful for all the support of our donors and businesses for their commitment to athletics at SRHS! Thank you to the Athletic Club for their dedication to our school community. A big kudos to alumni parent, resident photographer, and St. Rose supporter, Michael Scotto for capturing memories from the event.

Congratulations to all of our Sophomores who passed their Driver's Test. It was a bumpy experience using the State's online testing system which presented many challenges. But our students rose above it and got it done!

Full House

Open House

Thank you

Mrs. Tallarico would like to thank all the students and faculty for giving their all during our Fall Open House last month. Despite the electric issues requiring a rescheduling of the first date, everyone worked together to make the night a huge success. It was a Full House Open House. So enjoy another parody video, this time thanking everyone for making our 2022 Fall Open House a hit!

We are excited to announce that all of our slots for the HSPT (8th graders considering SRHS) were full on Saturday. And we have over 60+ public school students coming to our Shadow Day on Thursday, November 10th. Thank you for being Ambassadors of St. Rose High School.

Superstorm Sandy

10 years later

Last week we remembered the 10th Anniversary of Superstorm Sandy which devastated St. Rose High School on Sunday, October 29, 2012. In this video, Mr. Jerry Joyce, hosts a retrospective with many of his current colleagues who were working here a decade ago. One of those colleagues, Mr. Paul Falcone, a science teacher and 2013 alumni, was a senior then and provides a student perspective. The group shares stories and memories from the days leading up to the storm to the aftermath and how the community and the world came together to make St. Rose what it is today.
